Dear Mother:
I haven't had any mail from you for four or five days except the Northern Light. Of course it takes quite a while for mail to get away up here so I don't expect it often. I got a letter from Lucy last Monday and she was going to send me a parcel but I didn't get it yet. Well I had my last leve on this station this last weekend. It was a thirty six and so I went over to Detroit again. I stayed at the U.S.O Saturday night and went out to Mrs Sharkey's place Sunday morning. She is that young Dougherty's aunt. She took me down to some friends of hers and they took me all over Detroit. I had a perfect time.
About half of my old entry (165) had their trade test this afternoon and I believe quite a few of them failed. The

rest of them will have theirs tomorrow. They will all be leaving here Thursday. I will be having mine either Monday or Tuesday of next week. According to the fellows who had it this afternoon the test was very tough. They are making it a lot harder to pass now than what it used to be.
I centainly hope I don't fail and I won't either if I can possibly help it. Anyway I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Francis was down to see Jo Hennessy a couple of times. Jo is getting a big apartment down there and invited us to stay their while I was down their if I do get down.
We were given our forms this afternoon to fill out for our choice of postings. I chose Moncton, Sydney, Cape Breton, and Dorval Quebec. Dorval is a very good station and advanced training is given there

They only take fellows with a B grouping so I have to get an average of 85 or over in order to get there.
But if I don't you may see me on Saturday or Sunday next week. Whatever does happen I write you at once or send a telegram.
Well I can't think of anything else to write about except that is terribly cold up here nights but everyone expects a warm spell soon.
Love to all.
James.
